Nanaimo home sales decreased 15% in October 2012 when compared with October 2011. The average sale price decreased 6%. The median house price was $330,500.00.

Parksville / Qualicum home sales decreased 17% in October 2012 when compared with October 2011. The average sale price decreased 3%. The median house price was $360,000.00.


Synopsis:

 

In Nanaimo for October there were 552 active listings (4% less than the same month last year) of single family freehold homes and 367 (8% less than the same month last year) in Parksville/Qualicum.

“The market remains generally stable, albeit with annual unit sales expected to be down about 3% this year,” explained Cameron Muir, Chief Economist with the British Columbia Real Estate Association (BCREA). “A modest increase in home sales is expected next year. However, consumer demand will nevertheless remain relatively muted as bumpy economic growth limits overall sales volume.”
