Synopsis:
In Nanaimo for September there were 504 active listings of single family freehold homes and 356 in Parksville/Qualicum.
The number of active listings of single family homes has continued to decline although sales of homes has remained relatively consistent since April and on average we are seeing more sales this year than in 2012. The average sale price is lower for September but this is only the third month this year where it has dropped below $350,000 and if you average it out over the whole year to date it is currently just over $350,000 (the average sale price of a single family home for the whole of 2012 was $353,408.)
Over the last few years, with there being a large inventory of listings and fewer buyers, we have experienced a ‘buyers market’ but with inventory levels falling and sales remaining healthy we are starting to see more of a balanced market. Therefore if you are considering selling now would be a good time to discuss your options.
