If you are new, or nearly new, to Nanaimo you may consider joining the Harbour City Newcomers Club (HCNC.)
The club was established in October, 2007 and has been growing ever since! They meet each month at the Oliver Woods Community Centre where you have the opportunity to sign up for a multitude of activities and special events. The meetings are casual and fun, as well as informative. They frequently have a local guest speaker, but like to make sure that they have time to socialize as well.
The clubs mission statement:
"Our mission is to provide friendship and new opportunities to individuals who have recently moved to the Nanaimo area. Our club wants to help you create a new social network in a casual, supportive, and fun environment. We want to share our experiences in this paradise that we now call home!"
